SUPERVISION

My research interests lie in the field of applied data mining, machine learning and artificial intelligence, where I co-lead the Applied Data Mining Research group at QUT in collaboration with Professor Richi Nayak. I also mentor several higher degree research students who work on various applications of machine learning and deep learning, such as online abuse detection and early detection of critical health issues. As of April 2023, I am co-supervising three PhD students and one MPhil student, and one of my former PhD students graduated in 2021 and is now employed at CSIRO. To support the growth and development of my research team, I have successfully obtained several internal seeding grants from QUT Centre for Data Science (CDS) and hired four Research Assistants (RA) to conduct these projects on topics such as multimodal deep learning, transfer learning, domain adaptation and abuse detection. Furthermore, I have contributed to the academic community by serving as a panel member for QUT PhD student confirmation seminars (March 2023, December 2020, January 2018, November 2017) and final seminars (December 2018, April 2018). I am also an associate investigator at CDS, which enables me to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations with other researchers.

My supervision of higher degree research students has led to their academic and professional success, contributing to the broader research community.
