Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good evening. I am honored to be here on this International Mother Language Day. This special day celebrates the beauty and diversity of languages around the world. My name is Md Abul Bashar, and I work as a Senior Research Fellow in Computer Science at QUT.
Language is more than just a way to communicate—it is a part of who we are. It carries our culture, history, and identity. In today’s world, where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing fast, we must make sure our mother languages are not forgotten. If we create AI systems that understand and use our mother language, we can keep it alive for future generations. This is not only about technology—it is about protecting our culture.
Bangla is my mother language, and it is very special to me. It is a language of poetry, history, and strength. I am passionate about Generative AI and NLP. My research focuses on developing AI systems to support Bangla and other languages. Through my work, I hope to help preserve and strengthen our mother languages. If you are building AI systems to support your mother language, I would like to connect.
On this International Mother Language Day, let’s celebrate the many languages of the world. Let’s promise to protect and promote our mother languages so they continue to be a source of pride and identity for future generations.
Thank you.
